I knew AJ was good people when she gave me gifts of Pixy Stix, TicTacs and a snowglobe. I was particularly excited about being able to consume some Stix, after hearing many a Sister mutter about their bad-ass qualities. ;)
Our PIs met for the first time in my house, and there was quite a fracas as Severed!PI got a little bit carried away with The Club. Can't imagine where she learnt that kind of behaviour <cough>. We managed to separate Severed!PI from the sickeningly-happy-couple!PIs for the remainder of our escapades.
We left early on the Saturday morning in order to get to Oxford in time for the 'thon. Somehow I managed to drive us there in the Severedmobile without a crash, and we descended upon the city that once had the arduous task of edukatin' the Punk. At one point we met up with an old Professor of Mulders. He was really happy to be reunited with his former student, so happy that he attempted to show his affection by eating him (perv at will.)
We moseyed around the rest of Oxford, dodging past every "NO ENTRY" sign possible. We trespassed on private property and found OBSSE references everywhere. It's amazing how many cloisters, Abbeys and Chapels were just waiting to be discovered (read: unlawfully enter.) The sun graced us with its presence - which I found very exciting. In fact the sun shone all weekend - I swear I'm telling the truth - although AJ somehow still found it cold and shivered beneath her thinsulate layers as I pranced around in as few clothes as possible telling her incredulously "but it's practically tropical!" ;)
We were very late leaving for the 'thon. It was all AJs fault. Nothing to do with me at all, or those Pixy Stix I chugged down when she wasn't looking. Nothing to do with that at all. ;)
On to Oxford and UK Scullython 2000! Getting to Oxford was easy. Getting into the centre wasn't. It took us an hour to find a car park with a space available at the rail station, where we technically only had 20 minutes to park. But Aderyn and I, we obey no rules of the Man. Whilst visiting the "dreamy spires of Oxford," as Mo described them, Aderyn and I blew by dozens of signs declaring things like "Closed," "No Visitors," "Private," and "No Access to the Public."
To begin, we arrived at New College and found that it was "Closed," but with a quick check of the distracted guardsman and a nod at each other, we passed through the archway. As we walked across the garden, she and I sized each other up appreciatively, both thinking, "Well, she's obviously done this before." :-)
The architecture was...it was so...well, it was so amazing that I suddenly wished I had paid more attention at university so I could describe it more thoroughly. The architecture and the ambiance were so calm, peaceful, and ancient. In one courtyard (with a sign reading "No Access to the Public"), there was a high hill that had steep stone steps up one side, like an Aztec pyramid. Having broken many rules already and feeling very "Thelma & Louise," we proceeded up the steps to find a landing with a wooden bench tucked in between the trees, shrubs, and spring flowers. We ate our Pret a Manger picnic lunch up there amongst the scent of lilacs and the contented chirping of birds as we overlooked the courtyard and New College Chapel.
"What's that in Aderyn's hand?"
